CNT Lechon: Simply like no other
We just had a breakfast buffet at Allegro Restaurant when Gerald, Cat’s cousin, arrived early at Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort to pick us up. It was our last day at the resort and our luggage had been packed and ready. We’ve got the whole morning to see more of Cebu City before taking the 3pm flight back to Manila via Philippine Airlines.
During my first two days in Cebu, my brother had been brainwashing me through SMS to try CNT Lechon. I asked Cat what made CNT Lechon quite an icon among travelers that even my most hard-to-please brother seemed to salivate at the thought of it. You know lawyers like Cat tend to answer back with an offer you can’t resist – try it.
We’re on the road as early as 9AM. Our plan was to see Magellan’s Cross, visit some of the old Visayan churches and meet Cat at Ayala Cebu for lunch. But Gerald took us first to my dream destination – CNT Lechon.
We were at CNT Lechon branch in Guadalupe, Cebu City. It’s a small free standing restaurant with three to four tables. Nothing spectacular about the dining area because it looked like your favorite Ortigas carinderia. The servers though were nice jolly Cebuanas.
The famous Cebuano lechon joint was open as early as 9AM. Customers had been calling in to place orders by the kilos and schedule time of pick-up. Gerald told us that it is usually in the morning that the freshly roasted Cebu lechon are delivered to their outlet. He reserved a kilo for us for around P300.
It was more than an hour since my heavy breakfast at the resort but nevertheless I took lechon slices together with their tasty soy sauce. The roasted skin was crispy and the meat tasted so unlike Manila lechon that depends heavily on Mang Tomas. The meat was marinated I am not sure by which herb. (Sorry, I’m no cook.) It tasted so delicious you’d even risk getting high blood pressure. Well, we had places to cover and I would have burned all the fatty components by the time the day was over.

My friends were so disappointed with CNT in Ayala Mall, the lechon didn’t seem fresh and had lots of sebo already. The ones we brought home were the best though - I’d have to ask for the brand - but it was really good - my mom and brother have been raving about it - 4 days later!! Hahaha…

Try lechoncebu.com. They are the best lechon I’ve ever taste. Their lechon taste great even without sauce. The tasty meat which absorbs the aromatic fragrance of herbs and spices that make meat so flavorful. Try it and I’m sure you love the taste of there lechon.
