This post should have been written right after an infamous dinner at Conti’s Pastry Shop & Restaurant. Emotions were high and “there will be blood” was the theme for the night. But cool heads and hungry stomachs prevailed over instinct to fight back and level the whole place to the ground. Not to mention I was particularly lazy to write about the incident it took me a month to get it out. Jude’s or maybe Van’s version of the story would have been far more entertaining.

Van, Jude and I were at their branch in Connecticut Street, Greenhills to try Van’s highly-recommended Mango Bravo cake dessert. It wasn’t dinner time yet when we arrived but Conti’s was almost 85% full. Their waiter led us to the end part of the dining area when Jude and I saw a vacant table good for four. We were about to settle in when a Chinese-looking woman in pink cut in and said in cold hard voice, “We were here first.” We were surprised that the only thing we said was “okay” and departed quietly to the next vacant table. Jude was ready to go to war at the slightest provocation. So Van and I had to tie him down to his chair. Ha ha.

The incident wasn’t at all surprising to me as it happens to anyone anywhere. Imagine how those servers at the restaurant managed to cope up with exceptionally difficult customers on a daily basis. Sigh. There will always be people in this world who are so focused on themselves they fail to realize they’ve become the very suckers they actually hate. That middle-aged woman was a classic example of rudeness.

The delicious food at Conti’s and our funny conversation were the things that redeemed the night from getting spoiled. Next time you encounter someone as bitchy as she was, go call Jude and that person will definitely receive a mouthful.
