It was one of those days when my friend, Renz, and I surrender to those occasional cravings for good food. Given the limited time in our hands, Renz took me to Secret Recipes at the 4th level of Shangri-La Plaza mall for dinner.

Secret Recipes recently opened at the mall judging from its fresh look and predominantly red and white interior. Food photos decorated their walls just enough to make your mouth water. It’s a restaurant cafe serving a variety of Asian menu.

Han Wok at Madison Square
Somewhere along this traffic-congested Ortigas Avenue is a quiet gastronomical spot frequented by locals and tried by first time converts. Who would have not if everyone you know started describing how a steamy pot of chicken sizzles and seems to dance right before your eyes.

Swimming in chocolate and caramel syrups
My first Belgian Waffle with caramel and chocolate syrup treat after a year. No coffee, just water to wash down sugar and a 38-degree fever. I have Mayan to thank for this yummy treat at Starbucks Gateway Mall last week.

The celebrant, the mother of all mystery diners, turned another year older last week of July. Don’t ask me how old because it’s a well-kept trade secret very few people knew about. It was in a fateful Saturday, the very same day when I had no cash in the wallet but checks waiting to be cleared, that she treated me out to a nice lunch at Karate Kid.

Mang Inasal at SM Mall of Asia
This could be one of the very few places in the Philippines where there is no rice shortage. You won’t find mile-long lines of people waiting for their NFA rice portion but hungry mouths to feed. And the good news is you get extra rice servings once you dine in. I am referring to Mang Inasal, one of the fast growing chicken inasal restaurants today.
